Because all pets deserve great love and care.

No matter where they are living.

What is a “blessing bag”?

Our blessing bags are passed out through the city of Cleveland, OH to pet owners experiencing financial insecurity and/or homelessness. Inside of each bag, we include…

  • An animal first aid kit

  • Travel food and water bowls

  • Paw balm (to protect from hot pavement in the Summer and rock salt in the Winter)

  • Blanket

  • Pet cleaning wipes

  • 10 days of pet food

  • List of local pet food pantries

  • List of free and low cost veterinary are providers

    • List of local mental health programs

  • Harm Reduction supplies

  • Reflective leash and collar with name tag

  • Dog treats

  • Nylabone or similar chew toy

  • Stuffed toy

  • Protein bars

  • Gloves and socks

  • Personal hygiene items

The United States is experiencing a major financial crisis.

Approximately 20 million pet owners in the United States fall below the federal poverty line, with 43% of these individuals sharing that they have been unable to afford pet supplies and/or veterinary care within the last year.

Additionally, almost one quarter of individuals experiencing homelessness have a pet and have been turned away from a shelter because they did not want to leave their four-legged friend behind.

We may not be able to change the system, but we can help people feel less alone, and that makes all the difference.
